2013 Global Staff Conference- Evening, Day 5: Reaching the Lost

How do we reach the lost?

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for

“All flesh is like grass

and all its glory like the flower of grass.

The grass withers,

and the flower falls,

but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And this word is the good news that was preached to you (1 Peter 1:22-25, ESV).

We are called to be obedient to the truth and preach the Good News.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:3-6).

God is loving us by calling us to do the impossible by making me indespensible:

Verse 3: The Gospel is incomprehensible to those who are dead and perishing

Verse 4: Blindness is the condition of the lost

Verse 5: Proclaim! This is the link between blindness and sight

Verse 6: There was a moment or season when Jesus was not compelling (everything else was). Then, one day, God shone in my heart and jesus was compelling. It’s a miracle.

We are nothing. God is everything. He takes our nothing and makes something.
