[Post Conference Devo] 1 Peter 1:3-6

1 Peter 1:3-6

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in Every kind of trials.

Bring on Everything! I will not be overtaken

Praise be to God that we can live in an amazing hope, we can pursue the kingdom with vigor, we can entrust him with everything and we can boldly say “Bring on everything!” Because:

1)   “In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope.” We can take on every kind of trial, because he has given us new birth into a living hope and he has secured it for us not based on our own merit but with “his great mercy.”

2)   We can take on every kind of trial boldly because we have an “inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.” The inheritance that we are living for will never be destroyed, it will never wither like the flowers of the field, it will never spoil like the fruit of the vine, it will never fade like fleeting beauty.

3)   We can take on every kind of trial boldly because “ through faith [we] are shielded by God’s power until the coming of salvation.” We are shielded by God’s unfathomable, omnipotent power until he takes us into his unfading glory and that allows us like David to look at the Goliaths in our lives and say “Bring on everything.”

4)   We can take on every kind of trial boldly because, “Salvation is ready to be revealed in the last time.” We are not waiting on God to get his things in order to bring about salvation. Our eternal salvation is ready. It is sitting in the wings patiently awaiting its glorious entrance.

So we can greatly rejoice at everything (including trials) that comes our way because our great God who through his mercy has paid the price for our inheritance is shielding us and has our eternal salvation ready! Go forth Boldly!
