And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
One of the great difficulties of a staff person is learning how to rest. As we come to the end of a week, there always is something left unfinished, some email we didn’t respond to, some student we didn’t do enough for. On these days, I like to consider this verse, Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.” As God came to the end of his week, he was completely satisfied with all that he had created. He looked on everything and saw that it was very good. This week, I encourage you to look back over your week and consider what God thinks about it. He is completely satisfied with all that he has done in and through your life because he is completely satisfied in his son Jesus. You see, God knows that Jesus is going to get everything done that needs to get done in you. So he is not anxious. He is not checking his watch as the week comes to a close, wondering if his creative plans will come to fruition. God knows that Jesus is “making all things new.” As a result, he can look at you and look at your week and say- “it was very good.” Let us not dishonor him by disagreeing with his assessment.
